Matthieu Foss Gallery: What wears me

(born.1965) Born in London, Zubin Shroff grew up between London, Edinburgh and Mumbai. His first photographic journey was a yearlong trip through Asia and Europe with a borrowed camera at the age of eighteen. On that trip, Zubin began what would become a lifelong creative process, capturing the universal, hybrid and distinctive aspects of people and their communities as they negotiate their roles in a globalized and increasingly complex world.

For over ten years Shroff has applied this process to his work, through assignments that have taken him to 6 of the 7 continents. Whether it’s celebrities in Los Angeles, factory workers in Germany or pilgrims in Tibet, Shroff’s method is to invest the time and attention required to create an authentic connection with his subjects.

A resident of New York, and a frequent traveler to the west coast, Europe and Asia, Shroff is the recipient of numerous awards for his work and his work has appeared in many publications around the world including The New Yorker, Travel & Leisure, GQ, The New York Times, The Telegraph Magazine, Geo and Italian Vogue.
